British Comic Shop Comic Releases (26th August 2014) – Tenth Doctor #2 On Sale This Week

Doctor Who: Tenth Doctor #2

Here’s a list of comics – both US and UK releases – on sale in specialist UK comic shops from tomorrow, Wednesday 26th August 2014, courtesy of First Age Comics, Lancaster. We’ve picked out the titles published by British publishers in bold below, or titles with a British connection we’re aware of.

Releases include 2000AD Issue 1896 (also on sale in newsagents), sporting a superb “Black Shuck” cover by Glenn Fabry (and Glenn has posted the pencils here on his DeviantArt page).

By the way, 2000AD are giving away zarjaz Starter Packs to two lucky Earthlets, including six graphic novels and a history of the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic! Just sign up to the 2000AD Thrill-Mail at www.2000adonline.com/thrillmail by Wednesday 27th August for the chance to win this ghafflebette prize. (Existing subscribers included in prize draw).

Also out this week is Alien Legion: Uncivil War #3 from Titan Comics, written by Chuck Dixon and Carl Potts with art from Larry Stroman. The slime of the cosmos has been heat-tempered into the diamond-sharp tip of the Galactic Union’s armed forces. But the battle-hardened veterans of the Legion’s toughest unit, Force Nomad, will need all their experience to blast their way out of a peacekeeping mission turned rammin’ red hot!

Titan Comics tell me they’re delighted by strong sales for their new Doctor Who line and #2 of the Tenth Doctor series is also out this week, with incoming companion Gabriella trapped in a powerless subway car – and the only thing standing between her and horrific death-by-monster is some skinny white guy in a suit – who’s waving a blue flashlight around! If Gabby survives this – she’s going to kill him!

Nick Abadzis continues to unfold this engaging story which features some great alien characters whose secrets are only beginning to be revealed in this issue. Nick and  artist Elena Casagrande (Suicide Risk) ramp up the tension, horror, and joy of discovery…

Boom! Studios is releasing another media tie-in title that should interest British comic fans – Steed and Mrs Peel: We’re Needed Issue 2, written by Ian Edginton with art from Marco Cosentino and Claudio Grassi. John Steed continues the quest for the truth about his fellow agent, uncovering some secrets about the remote seaside resort he’s investigating—and the locals are willing to go to extreme measures to keep Steed quiet.

The release list below features mainly US titles from Marvel Comics, DC Comics, IDW, Image Comics and other publishers, including Trade Paperbacks. We’re not including merchandise releases in these news items.

Don’t forget The Beano is also out tomorrow in newsagents!
