Top artist and Aces Weekly artist Mal Earl is making a special appearance in his home county of Cumbria later this week, to talk about digital art and his many projects, ad a guest of the Egremont-based Florence Art Group.
Over the last five years Mal has written and illustrated almost 100 pages of comic strip story for David Lloyd’s online anthology Aces Weekly. He has created artwork for record, magazine and book covers on both sides of the Atlantic, and is currently working on a graphic novel with Black Grape front man Kermit Leveridge, which will be launched at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival in October in Kendal.
His artistic process includes both traditional pencil work, and finishes produced solely on Apple iPad.
The event will be an informal, informative session focussing on the growing opportunities offered to artists by the ever growing digital landscape.
If you’re based near or live in Egremont, then the Florence Art Group meet every Thursday evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and welcomes artists of all disciplines and abilities. Take along your own work and share ideas and tips with others or just have a quiet place to get on with your latest project.
The cost per week is £5 which covers room hire and goes towards paying for regular one-off artist workshops. New members are always welcome (first two regular sessions are just £2.50).
