Aces Weekly Volume 39, the latest delivery of the long-running digital anthology, is mid-run right now. In the run up to his appearance at Ottawa Comiccon this coming weekend, publisher David Lloyd has been reaffirming his longtime belief in digital comics.
After Kenny Penman, publisher of Blank Slate Books, asked David if he’d considered print editions of Aces Weekly, David re-stated the ethos of the project in a social media post.

“We’d be defeating our own object in championing what we’re doing, he replied, “in showing how efficient, how non-wasteful, how economic, how good-looking, how wide-reaching great comics storytelling can be, if only people will throw off the shackles of the conviction that a comic is an object, and enjoy its actual real form of picture and script combined that can exist on any serviceable surface.
“That said – with as much emphasis as I can muster – our creators are all at liberty to go to print themselves after a period of exclusivity with us, and some have. And I, of course, wish them luck in doing so.
“But to paraphrase Steve McQueen in The Magnificent Seven, at Aces Weekly, ‘ We deal in digital, friend ‘.”

David will be at the Ottawa Convention signing and selling massive taster volumes of “the best cyberspace comics art magazine on the planet” via smart coded access cards that are just $14 each, and come with a free sketch from David as a bonus!
Fellow Aces Weekly creator, Jack Briglio is also at the event, along with other terrific talent of David’s acquaintance from the fantastic world of comics.
