Crowdfunding Spotlight: UNIT 666 Volume 1

UNIT 666 Volume 1

The team behind a great-looking graphic novel bringing a whole new twist to World War Two-set adventures – UNIT 666 Volume 1 – makes their final assault on gaining further recruits to their cause this week.

The brainchild of creators Noel K. Hannan, Warwick Fraser-Coombe, Neil ‘Bhuna’ Roche and others, this 76-page graphic novel opens in January 1944, a time when the Allies form Unit 666 – hard men with special skills and talent to kick Hitler and his evil Nazi scum back to hell!

There’s chaos from Calais to Crete in this war, with new fronts opening all the time as shadowy saboteurs, agents and resistance movements take Churchill at his word – “Set Europe Ablaze!”

The Allies and the brave people of the occupied countries have Hitler on his bally back foot, but, in his desperation to conquer the Free World at any and all costs, the Fuhrer has turned to his vunderveppen, technological marvels and other things which cannot possibly have come from this world.

“Some say they are from Hell, some say they come from Outer Space,” says Neil. “We say – this sounds like a job for Unit 666!”

“Think Commando, Battle and Action of the 1970’s and 80’s, with a hefty sprinkling of Hellboy and Iron Sky,” Noel enthuses. “What’s not to love!”

The existence of this shadowy unit was kept a secret until after D-Day, when they came to Normandy looking for a fight and got one, and first seen in action against one of the new vunderveppen threatening London.

Unit 666 is made of men with special skills and talents, specifically selected and trained to combat these other worldly threats Hitler has amassed against the Allies. But it turns out the devilish dictator has created a unit of his own, the Kriegsjaeger, with a mission to protect his unnatural assets and provide a defence against Unit 666. There’s soon no doubt that this foul Nazi set-up is on a collision course with the Allied commandos…

“There will be zombies, werewolves, aliens, faeries, witches, giant mecha, all kinds of precise and realistic historical references,” says Neil. “Sounds like a job for Unit 666!”

This crazy sounding set up sounds like the makings of the kind of story a lot of British comic fans can relate to, young and old, whether fans of war comics, or war games. There’s tons of rewards on offer, variant covers, and more on offer. A host of other creators are on board, with more enlisted as the funding grows, now at over £5000.

So why not head over to Kickstarter now and check out the book, and the rewards on offer – before it’s too late!
