A very unusual copy of The Dandy, previously owned by artist Duncan Scott, who, sadly, died in 2021, is commanding attention from fans of Desperate Dan and friends on eBay, one of several fantasticBritish comic related artworks and items on offer from the same seller.
Produced by DC Thomson in October 2010, on offer is a limited edition of The Dandy – Number 26 of 37 – created specifically for the artists and staff working on the relaunch version of the comic.
The back cover was originally left blank for signatures and was previously owned by the artist Duncan Scott, who died in 2020.
“Later on, before his death, he agreed on my request to draw ‘The Bash Street Kids’, ‘Colin the Vet’ and ‘The Neds’,” says seller on eBay as Blondie72Drinking, online elsewhere as GlennDundeeArt, who is in the process of slimming down a massive collection of comic art and other items, amassed over several years.
Along with this extremely rare copy of The Dandy, bidding closing tomorrow, Tuesday 13th June 2023, with bids already at over £200, also on offer at present are Beano and The Dandy items dating back decades, by talents including Robert Nixon, Tom Paterson and Nigel Parkinson.
Work produced for other titles is on offer, too. Here are the current items on offer, listed here in order of sale, on eBay…
The seller, on eBay as Blondie72Drinking, online elsewhere as GlennDundeeArt, is a longtime and much appreciated contributor to various Facebook British comic groups, and says he’s releasing pieces out into the wild as his collection of British comic art “has grown far too big!”
