The long-awaited Danger Mouse comic – based on the smash hit new series – could be one step nearer to publication, after publisher DC Thomson advertised for staff for the title.
DC Thomson was announced as a major licensing partner last June, before the animated comedy series launched on CBBC, along with Jazwares who were appointed master toy partner, with Penguin to release books based on the show.
The US toy company Jazwares – which backs the JazWings creator platform we mentioned last week – is offering a range of Danger Mouse toys across the UK, European Union, Australia and New Zealand, shown off at Toy Fair this weekend.
The toy company will then launch the range to North America and Latin America in the following months.
Penguin has signed for publishing in all English speaking territories, excluding North America. The deal will see Penguin publish a range of printed books, including story books, official guides, sticker books, novelty books, annuals and electronic titles.
DC Thomson is to publish a monthly Danger Mouse magazine in the UK and Eire featuring comic strips, puzzles, fact files, poster and competition and advertised for a Magazine Journalist to work on this and other titles this week. A launch date has yet to be announced, however.
After its terrific success on CBBC, the series is to roll out internationally on Netflix this spring.
