Destination Star Trek Birmingham, Europe’s official Star Trek convention, will open its doors to thousands of fans from across the universe for another weekend celebrating the many incarnations of the franchise in October next year.
Under license by CBS Consumer Products, the fifth Destination Star Trek, and the second to take place in Birmingham, is all set for 19th – 21st October 2018, at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, England.
Destination Star Trek Birmingham will pay tribute to the characters and stories that have inspired generations of fans, and celebrate a milestone year, the 25th anniversary of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
The legendary William Shatner (Captain Kirk) will headline the event. In a world first, to help celebrate Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s 25th anniversary, Armin Shimerman will appear in costume and make-up as the very popular character ‘Quark,’ a one-time only event exclusive to Destination Star Trek Birmingham that will include photoshoots with attendees.
In addition to autographs, photos and panels, fans will be able to take command of the bridge on the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 and NCC-1701-D – plus see original props and costumes in the Destination Star Trek Museum.
Destination Star Trek Birmingham is organised by Massive Events, in association with Showmasters and Media 10.
“For over five decades, Star Trek continues to take us to the Final Frontier, it’s exciting times to be a fan,” said event organiser, Mark Woollard. “Destination Star Trek Birmingham will continue to celebrate what’s gone before and what is to come, so we can boldly go where no one has gone before.”
