Starting life under a different name in 2014, the Edinburgh Comic Con (ECC) established itself as a major two-day comics-centric ‘comic con’ in the Scottish capital last year when it sold out its Saturday tickets and came close to the same on the Sunday. Having previously been based in the Edinburgh University student’s centre in Bristo Square, a building with a lot more character than floor space, this year’s ECC will be taking place in the rather upmarket surroundings of the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) in the city centre west end on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd April 2016.
Their poster for this year, created by Dave Brown, pays homage to the cover of Action Comics issue 1 from 1938 whilst conveying some of the indifference Edinburgh residents have for their new tramline.
ECC has an impressive array of American comics creators as guests including Marco Rudy, Sara Richard, Brad Walker, Jorge Jiminez, Tom Raney, Jim Calafiore, Chris Burnham, Nick Pitarra, and Bruno Redondo.
British comic creators guesting include John Lees, Gordon Rennie, Tom Foster, Yishan Li, Iain Laurie, Dan McDaid, and Emma Beeby.
As in previous years in addition to the comics guests ECC has a selection of media guests, including cast members from the Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Star Trek and Star Wars universes.
