Gosh! Comics gets set to host Safari Festival Pre-Party

This weekend sees the return of Safari Festival, courtesy of the fine folks at Breakdown Press. It’s a showcase from some of the most interesting and innovative comics work out there at the moment and we’ve got an event on Friday night to throw the spotlight on a couple in particular.

Safari Festival is exhibiting artists that have been selected for their  highly original approaches to making comics and to celebrate Gosh! are having a Safari Festival Pre Party on the 21st August 2015 from  7-9.00 pm.

Breakdown Press  and co-hosts The Treasure Fleet (a Berlin-based collective of four independent comic publishers, Édition Biografiktion, My Own Press, Salmiak and Ulama)  and kuš (an international comics anthology from Latvia), will be at Gosh! for a double book launch! The event will see the launch of Another Blue World by Jonathan Chandler from Breakdown Press and kuš! #22 Fashion (including Safari exhibitors Marie JacoteyJoseph P. KellyLaura Callaghan and Sharmila Banerjee) from kuš.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Star Trek Explorer (previously known as Star Trek Magazine) and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War and “Dan Dare”. He’s the writer of "Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies" for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
