Comic artist and writer Kev F Sutherland has announced details of the next six episodes of his Comic Cuts – The Panel Show podcast, launched recently, which is released on various platforms every Friday at midday.
In each episode, two guests join the show, each bringing a panel from a comic – and the host and other guest have to guess it. It’s a great idea – and there are plenty of laughs had!
Available right now is a new episode with Resident Alien co-creator Peter Hogan and comedian and writer Bethany Black, who bring in panels from an uncharacteristic comic by a legendary US artist, and the most exciting new superhero of recent times.
It’s a great listen, with Peter Hogan reminiscing about his music days, as well as talking comics and follows hot on the heels of the first two episodes, with Doug Segal and Iszi Lawrence and Sonia Leong and Nigel Parkinson.
On Friday 11th June, tune in for Louise Leigh and Ashley Storrie, bringing in panels from a new Scottish indie comic, and a fondly remembered nursery title.
On 18th June, catch Jessica Martin and Wil Hodgson, bringing in panels from a title of mystery and magic, and an imaginary story (but aren’t they all?)
Friday 25th June debuts an episode with Nigel Auchterlounie and Laura Howell, bringing in panels from a classic underground comic, and a surprising British horror story.
Then on 2nd July, tune in for Jaleelah Galbraith and Okse, who bring in panels from a classic British girls title, and a legendary superhero graphic novel.
Finally, on 9th July, Laura Watton and David Leach bring in panels from a multi-million selling 1970s manga, and one of Britain’s most famous cartoonists of all time.
Kev has plundered his address book, built up over his 30 years plus of working in comics, and says guests have been lined up for the next four shows, being recorded next week. Stay tuned for news.
