The Lakes International Comic Art Festival (17-19th October 2014) has announced plans to host a 24 Hour Comic Marathon hosted by ace comics creator and educator Dan Berry – and they’re looking for comic artists to take part. Here’s the full details:
ARTIST OPPORTUNITY: 24 HOUR COMICS MARATHON APPLY NOW
We are looking for a comic artist. Not just any old comic artist, we are looking for an artist with a bunch of comics under their belt already, a proven track record that they can draw pictures into little boxes with the best of them. Not only that, but an artist that wants to rise to the challenge of the 24 hour Comics Marathon starting at the Lakes International Comics Art Festival on the 16th October 2014 and finishing the following day.If chosen, you will be working alongside a handful of the most talented artists around to draw awesome comics.Please email us at: julie@comicartfestival.com and include a bit about yourself and examples of your work.If selected you will join the 24 hour Comics Marathon team and you will be put up for 3 nights in Kendal, your travel will be paid for, all food and you’ll be a guest of the festival for the weekend whilst you recover! The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
