On this week’s episode the Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast team are joined by creator G.E. Gallas, to talk about her current book on iKickstarter, The Plague and Dr Caim.
The book, which was originally offered through Unbound and is now being published by Cast Iron Books, follows a comedic look at a plague doctor’s day to day life during the 17th century.
G. E. Gallas is a writer and illustrator best known for her graphic novel The Poet and the Flea about the poet-painter William Blake. After studying Japanese language and culture for many years, she spent a year abroad in Tokyo, Japan. She graduated from New York University: Gallatin School of Individualized Study with a major involving cross-cultural storytelling. She has spoken upon invitation to The Blake Society (London), Yale University School of Drama, and Germanna College (Virginia).
Co-hosts Ian Loxam and Nikki Bates also look at Dennis the Menace as he reaches his 70th birthday and wander back to their youth when they enjoyed reading his exploits.
Tom Stewart discusses This Was 2020 by Peter S. Conrad, and Mike Williams and Pete Taylor continue Yakapedia. Their plan as custodians of the mighty tomb of the Comic Yakapedia is to review, amend and correct its many thousands of entries to ensure it remains to definitive library of comic trivia and nonsense.
