New Comics added to SEQUENTIAL app, including “Meanwhile”, “Love and Rockets”

Love and Rockets #1 - Cover

Some great graphic novels have recently been added to the SEQUENTIAL digital comic app, including the brilliant Love and Rockets by Jaime and Gilbert Hernandez and the recently-revamped Meanwhile… anthology published by Soaring Penguin.

The new additions reads like a bucket list of some of the best comics published in the past 30 years. They certainly back up the stated aim of the team behind the SEQUENTIAL app for iPad, led by Russell Willis, that it should feature “intelligent, entertaining, life-enhancing storytelling at its best”.

Publishers on SEQUENTIAL include Dark Horse (including Blacksad, Nanjing and Two Brothers), IDW, Fantagraphics (including The Complete Crepax), Koyama Press, NBM (including Black Dahlia by Rick Geary and Thoreau: A Sublime Life) and Top Shelf; and British publishers Blank Slate, Improper Books, Knockabout and Myriad Editions, with more coming on board all the time.

Creators include Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), Jamie and Gilbert Hernandez (Love and Rockets), Brian Bolland, Eddie Campbell (Bacchus), Gilbert Shelton, Neil Gaiman, Bryan Talbot, David Lloyd, Dash Shaw, Hunt Emerson and the cream of the small press.

The app is very easy to use, the comics look terrific and many titles come with “digital extras”, including audio commentaries, offering fascinating insights into the creation of the comics. If you have an iPad and want more than superhero comics (you won’t find any on SEQUENTIAL), then you should download the app now.

The Lighthouse by Paco Roca - SmallRecently added titles include Trashed by Derf Backderf; Neat Stuff by Peter Bagge; Strange Embrace by David Hine; Beauty by Hubert & Kerascoët; American Elf by James Kochalka; Hip Hop Family Tree Volume 2 by Ed Piskor; the recently-released gem The Lighthouse by Paco Roca; New School by Dash Shaw; Jeff Smith’s Eisner Award-winning Bone and RASL; and the fabulous Ricky Rouse Has a Gun by Jörg Tittel and John Aggs.

Right now you can also download Alan Moore: An Extraordinary Gentleman for free

New books are added every week so keep checking the app’s Storefront for the latest titles.

And no – there is no Android version. From experience, knowing how little revenue Android apps generate, I’m not surprised!
