MonstahMag is a new, quarterly full colour magazine focused on New England independent horror culture that may sound pretty specialist – but just check out the contributor lineup, which includes top fantasy and science fiction artist Bob Eggleton, and includes some great features, too.
MonstahMag comes packed with original tales of horror, awesome art by Bob, Mike Doherty and others, unique comics, movie reviews, cosplay, make-up/special effects tutorials, show listings and classifieds – but that’s not all. The editorial team will will be talking to some of the top local filmmakers, artists, effects and makeup artisans, authors and comic creators in the New England area.

Distributed in both print and digital format, if you’re over 18 you can check out the first issue here on the official web site – and subscribe there, too. The first issue includes an interview with Troma Entertainment’s Lloyd Kaufman, and a feature by Bob on classic SF and horror film programming on US TV, and plenty of information on upcoming cult media events in the US state.
Along with spotlighting local talent they will be providing a networking platform for local creators to connect and get the word out about upcoming projects
Bob Eggleton is busy on other fronts too, part of the team behind The Things from Another World is a new official addition to the world of John W. Campbell‘s acclaimed sci-fi thriller Who Goes There?, which inspired both John Carpenter’s The Thing and the upcoming Blumhouse reboot of the film.

More than a mere sequel, The Things from Another World, currently seeking backing on Kickstarter, written by award-winning and critically acclaimed publisher, editor and writer John Gregory Betancourt, is a daring expansion of the Thing story, imagining a world in which Campbell’s story was a fictional account of actual events, and then exploring the terrifying implications for humanity. In The Things from Another World, a second spaceship is discovered in Antarctica, confirming the events in 1938 that inspired Campbell’s story. The US military decides to unearth the ship and learn its secrets, only to discover too late that the crash site is not deserted like they believed. The horrors that are unleashed pale in comparison with what will happen if the Things are able to escape Antarctica and spread unchecked across the world…
