After the appearance of the original Knight Rider star David Hasslhoff in his fab comic Retro Tales, comic creator Simon Williams has announced his next guest star – the legendary king of muscle rock, Jon Mikl Thor.
“The one and only Rock Warrior will be returning to the world of comics to team-up with the Discotronic Funk Commandos, the Hoff and some other super special guest-stars that we can’t name (yet)!” enthuses Simon.
Retro Tales is Simon’s brainchild who, as we’ve mentioned previously, has been a professional comic artist since 2003, working on Spectacular Spider-Man Adventures, The Incredible Hulk, Death’s Head, Transformers and Marvel Heroes. Now he’s Simon is bringing his creator-owned Discotronic Funk Commandos to the pages of Retro Tales, along side some fun new characters (and some super special guest-stars) for some classic, old-school comic book fun and adventure… suitable for all ages.
Not only is the Rock Warrior Jon Mikl Thor going to be appearing in the pages of Retro Tales, but he will be promoting the comic on both his upcoming US Tour, which begins at the end of September and on his new album, Thunderstryke 2 (which features an alternate cover and artwork by Simon).
”I can’t put into words how proud I am to be collaborating with another of one of my all-time heroes!” says Simon. “I’m a huge fan of Thor, both as a person and his music, and I can’t begin to say how many pages I’ve drawn listening to his Unchained, Only the Strong and Thunderstryke albums”
Canadian Thor, who started touring as frontman for the successful heavy metal band Thor in 1973, is a bodybuilding champion, actor, songwriter, screenwriter, historian, vocalist and musician.
As a bodybuilder, he was the first Canadian to win both the Mr. Canada and Mr. USA titles. During his bodybuilding career, he has achieved over 40 titles around the world. As a musician, he is the front man for Thor, billing himself as “The Legendary Rock Warrior”. He’s also has had career in acting appearing in such films as Recruits, Zombie Nightmare, and Rock ‘n’ Roll Nightmare.
“I can honestly say that working with Thor has been a career highlight and an absolute pleasure,” says Simon. “Plus, he’s one of the nicest, most fan-friendly guys you could ever wish to talk to.. either here, or on Asgard!”.
“The comic and entertainment business is ever evolving… a machine of intertwining ideas that groan and bend – an enigma, with technology becoming a mystery of metamorphosis,” Thor himself responds. “It is with great pleasure and honour to see a beacon in the night, a shining star of creativity and talent… may I present Simon Williams. He has a resume a mile long with glories of the past but is also the future of this industry.
“In my dealings with him, he is someone you can count on to deliver the goods. He has original skills far beyond those of mortal men. Simon Williams has become a great friend and fellow entrepreneur. Hail to Simon and Retro Tales!”
