Kickstarter by: Scar Comics

The StorySix years ago, little Katherine Harlow killed her own parents. Showing no signs of remorse or regret, she was said to be a girl without a soul.
A Hollow Girl.

Now, wearing an expressionless white mask, Kat kills for the dead, a willing vessel for the souls of the wrongfully killed.
But how did a disturbed little girl become a brutal vigilante?  And are the voices that she hears really those of the dead, or symptoms of a dangerous, all-consuming psychosis?

The Preview: Scar Comics campaign to fund its 52-page (plus extras)  The Hollow Girl project has just gone live on Kickstarter and I was lucky enough to get a digital preview copy. It isn’t like anything you will have seen for a while.
At its heart a bleak vigilante horror thriller, told in monochrome black and white, it follows a masked girl taking (very) bloody revenge. It’s a magnificently told, morally ambiguous tale that tackles themes of mental illness, reality, good and bad, life and death, revenge and the afterlife.

“I would describe it is as either a supernatural or a psychological revenge thriller, depending on the reader’s individual take on the character,” Luke Cooper tells me after I asked about the book’s creation and his motives. “I wanted to create a female protagonist that didn’t need a skin-tight costume or sass to be interesting, so I tried to do it by making Hollow Girl mysterious and dark, as damaged as male anti-heroes like Eric Draven (The Crow) and the Punisher.”
I first discovered Luke’s work on the excellent Planet Jimbot title Good Cop, Bad Cop and this is more of the same. His art perfectly encapsulates the quiet moments required of the story, as well as the eruptions of violence told throughout this comic and has a real edge to its style and art.
I hope that this is the first in the series, as Luke hopes. If you like what you see, it is well worth your time and money to give the project your support.
As well as the book itself, which is available to backers as a digital download, a soft cover Graphic Novel and an exclusive Hard Back edition with bonus material, there are other goodies on offer to the project’s supporters, including  original sketches, appearances in the book, T-Shirts, poster art and other cool extras. Most of these rewards are exclusive to Kickstarter and not available anywhere else.
