Sunderland Comic Con announces more guests

Sunderland Comic Con, which runs 21st – 22nd February, has just announced a number of new guests for the event, joining an already-impressive line-up.

The additions include a number of creators who’ve worked on various Doctor Who comic projects, Aces WeeklyThe Beano and 2000AD as follows:

Jeff Anderson, Artist (Transformers, Judge Dredd); Nigel Auchterlounie (Artist, Writer – Spleenal, “The Numbskulls”, “Bash Street Kids”); Gary Chudleigh (Writer – Plagued: The Miranda Chronicles, Invisible); Ben Dickson (Aritst, Writer – Aces Weekly, Santa Claus vs The Nazis); Nigel Dobbyn (Artist – 2000ADThe Beano, My Little Pony, Mr Bean, Sonic the Comic); Bambos Georgiou (Publisher, editor, writer, artist, letterer – Aces Weekly, Wallace & Gromit, Spider-Man, X-Men); Kev Hopgood (Artist – Doctor Who, Iron Man, 2000AD, Judge Dredd Megazine); Yishan Li (Artist – Aces Weekly, How to Draw Manga & Anime, Girl 1); Nika Nartova (Colourist – The Beano, “Harry Hill”, The Dandy); Neil Slorance (Artist – Dungeon Fun, Doctor Who); comics scholar Doctor Mel Gibson; podcaster Stacey Whittle; and culture critic Gareth K. They join the already announced lineup of Hannah Berry (Artist & Writer – Britten and Brulightly, Adamtine); Alan Brown (Artist – Ben 10, The Blind, Heather Ale); Kate Charlesworth (Artist – Nelson, Sally Heathcote: Suffragette); Hunt Emerson (Artist/Writer – Calculus Cat, Fortean Times); Al Ewing (Writer – Loki, 2000AD, Doctor Who); John Higgins (Artist, Writer and Colourist, Watchmen, The Killing Joke,”Judge Dredd”); Barry Kitson (Artist, The Avengers, Captain America); Robbie Morrison (Writer – Doctor Who, Drowntown, “Nikolai Dante”); Nigel Parkinson (Artist, “Dennis & Gnasher”, The Beano, The Dandy); Bryan Talbot (Artist, Writer – Grandville, Alice in Sunderland, Batman); Doctor Mary Talbot (Writer – Dotter of Her Father’s Eyes, Sally Heathcote: Suffragette); and John Wagner (Writer – “Judge Dredd”, “Strontium Dog”, “Button Man”, The Bogie Man).

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Star Trek Explorer (previously known as Star Trek Magazine) and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War and “Dan Dare”. He’s the writer of "Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies" for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
