Tintinimaginatio and Microids have just released the new Tintin Reporter – Cigars of the Pharaoh game, based on the eponymous comic story by Hergé.
Co-produced by Tintinimaginatio and Microids and developed by the renowned Spanish studio Pendulo Studios, a pioneer in adventure games for nearly 30 years, Tintin Reporter – Cigars of the Pharaoh will be available at the end of November 2023 on PlayStation 4 (physical/digital) and Xbox One (digital). The Nintendo Switch version is set to be released in 2024.
The Limited Edition is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and will be available on Nintendo Switch in 2024, and will include the retail version of the game, an official Steelbook, and three
postcards.

Inspired by an iconic adventure from the series of albums “The Adventures of Tintin” created by Hergé and sold more than 275 million copies worldwide, this new video game marks the return of the famous reporter with the puffball to the world of interactive entertainment thanks to a dynamic co-production between Tintinimaginatio and Microids.
In the game, Tintin Reporter – Cigars of the Pharaoh, the famous reporter and his faithful companion Snowy are going to experience some extraordinary adventures… After meeting Professor Sarcophagus whilst cruising the Mediterranean Sea, the famous reporter sets out in search of the tomb of the Pharaoh Kih-Oskh.
What are the dark secrets hidden in the tomb? From Egypt to India, passing through Arabia, Tintin & Snowy will end up investigating a gigantic drug trafficking network throughout the East.
With all the facets of the Tintin universe and a story full of twists and turns that are part of Hergé’s great creative legacy, Tintin Reporter – Cigars of the Pharaoh immerses the player in the heart of a mysterious Egypt and other lands of infinite beauty.
Combining all the best elements of adventure and investigation games,Tintin Reporter – Cigars of the Pharaohinvites the player to dress up as an investigator/reporter: search, infiltrate to find clues and solve enigmas with the help of investigation dialogues enriched with video sequences, infiltration phases or even plane or car chases.

Sadly, the initial reports are awful. Bug-ridden and basically un-finished, this should have been put back rather than rushed out. Not looking good for the fans or the developer. I was really looking forward to this.
That’s a great shame to hear, especially given how long this game has been in development. I’d be interested to know what players think when it’s gained wider distribution.
That is disappointing – had wishlisted it on Steam for PC. Hopefully they iron it out with some updates, until then it will remain on the wishlist.
