Titan Comics has announced the first of its three Doctor Who ongoing series will launch in July and gave US web site Comic Book Resources an exclusive first look at the covers (which they plastered with their own branding). Lucklily for us, the BBC’s official Doctor Who tumblr team decided not to do anything so crass, so here are both unspoilt – delivered by the talented Alice X. Zhang, who has created a lot great Doctor Who art for the BBC.
Both Titan Doctor Who ongoings launch 23rd July in the United States.
The first Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor arc will be written by Nick Abadzis (Laika and strips for The Phoenix, among many other credits) with art by Elena Casagrande, followed by Robbie Morrison (Drowntown).
Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor #1 written by 2000AD and Mighty Avengers scribe Al Ewing and The Royals writer Rob Williams with art by Simon Fraser (whose numerous credits include the first issue of IDW’s Doctor Who “Prisoners of Time” storyline for IDW).
In addition to “The Tenth Doctor” (based on David Tennant’s portrayal of the character) and “The Eleventh Doctor” (based on Matt Smith’s portrayal), BBC and Titan also previously announced plans for comics focusing on Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor following the new “Doctor Who” TV series launch later this year.
Al Ewing told fans Matt Smith was “inching up the league” to become his second favourite Doctor, “finally winning that maddening tie-break with childhood fave Peter Davison.”
(For Al, Patrick Troughton remains in the number one spot, untouchable.)
“Suffice to say,” Nick told fans on Twitter, he and Simon Fraser are “very excited” at being involved in Titan’s Doctor Who project.

Eisner Award-winning writer Nick Abadzis (Laika) and fan-favourite artist Elena Casagrande (Angel, Suicide Risk, Doctor Who, Star Trek) take control of the TARDIS for their first five-issue arc with the Tenth Doctor! And don’t miss the second arc, by fellow series architect Robbie Morrison (Drowntown, Nikolai Dante, The Authority)!

Series architects Al Ewing (Loki: Agent of Asgard, Mighty Avengers, Trifecta) and Rob Williams (Revolutionary War, Ordinary, Miss Fury, The Royals: Masters of War, Trifecta) kick off a whirlwind adventure through eternity for the Eleventh Doctor, with artist Simon Fraser (Nikolai Dante, Grindhouse, Doctor Who)!
Despite being published by a British company there is some bad news for British Who fans about these new titles. Bleeding Cool has reported the BBC have confirmed that, because both Doctor Who Magazine and Doctor Who Adventures publish strip here, Titan’s titles will only officially be available as digital editions in the UK, which is the same arrangement IDW had for its Time Lord tales.
