Following the departure of Chris Teather earlier this year, London-based Titan Publishing Group, the UK’s leading publisher of licensed TV, movie and gaming publishing, is currently recruiting for a Publishing Manager to join their Comics, Graphic Novels & Magazines department.
The main purpose of the role will be to manage all areas Titan Comics and Magazines, including editorial, marketing, sales (news stand, book, comic store and digital), advertising, subs and right sales, design and all the staff within these departments.
The job description notes “It is highly desirable for the candidate to have a comics background, however an individual with a strong publishing background with a keen interest in comics will also be encouraged to apply.
“The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a large team and must have excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong IT skills, including InDesign, Word and Excel. You must be well-organised and able to set clear priorities whilst working in a pressurised environment.”

John is the founder of downthetubes, launched in 1998. He is a comics and magazine editor, writer, and Press Officer for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He also runs Crucible Comic Press.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics; and has edited several comic collections and graphic novels, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”, and Hancock: The Lad Himself, by Stephen Walsh and Keith Page.
He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
