Dance for joy, Earthlets – 3A are relaunching their 2000AD model figure range

3A Toys, the makers of some absolutely stunning model figures, have announced that they will be relaunching their 2000AD line in the 1/12 scale format – approximately 6″. Longtime readers will recall the company released an ABC Warriors Mongrol figure back in 2011, just one figure in a range the company planned that included the Mighty Tharg.
Based in Hong Kong, 3A Toys was formed as a partnership between internationally acclaimed artist Ashley Wood and leading designer toy maker ThreeZero (Kim Fung Wong) in 2008. The company is home to the hit toy lines World War Robot and licensed figures from brands such as Metal Gear Solid and Todd McFarlane’s Spawn.
In a post on the company’s blog last week about the relaunch, Ashley said he could yap on about the details about the previous years attempts at making the toys (best moment for me was Ro-Jaws ), but in short in 2014 we are going to relaunch the 2000AD line in 1/12th.
“I want to make many characters,” he continued, “and, frankly, the cost and support for large expensive versions just didn’t add up, plus we all want a Lawmaster with our Dredd figure ([which is] much much easier and cheaper in 1/12th). Hell, we all want a Apocalpyse War era Sov Judge, Judge Anderson, Judge Death, Johnny Alpha with Gronk, Nemesis, f***, even that todger Ace Garp , plus all the modern era characters.. There are a s*** load of them, I personally love them all, even Shako…”You guys who have the 1/12th Mongrol have already started your collections, so help me, help 3A get these done by supporting the new line, without you guys it not gonna happen! 2000ad deserves a great toy line, f**** that, it demands it!”

In related 3A news, Ashley has also announced he plans to publish his own free digital comic based on his own 3A characters, which he says is something he has been planning for a while.

“Imagine a 2000AD style format but with my 3A IP.s etc,” he explains. “… Sure, there will be a printed version too, but the main purpose is to fill in the gaps, answer questions, and hopefully amuse in regards to the worlds of World War Robot, TK’s, [a series of Tomorrow Kings related figures] and so on. I’ll be handling the writing with TP [Louise], I’ll be laying out some of the stories for the talented BRIZL to finish, plus roping in friends to do special one off’ stories!

“It’s a lot of work,” he acknowledges, “but I think the stories and worlds the characters live in are an important part of 3A and need to be seen.”
