Art4All is a great idea – a “Buy Now” sale event from the Artworks organisation, offering a huge range of original artwork priced between £5 – £30, with all monies raised going to Barrow-based charity Self Harm Awareness For All (SAFA).
Taking place online later next month, there’s no bidding involved, just buy straight by offering your preferred price through the dedicated Facebook group – and support a good cause.
“We want to make artwork available to a wider audience, those who might find buying art a bit scary or too expensive,” explains local artist and sale organiser Sharon Tait.
This Art4All event starts on Facebook on Monday 25th October 2021 at 6.00pm and ends on Sunday 28th November at 8.00pm. There will be subsequent events, with Week 2 running 1st – 7th November; Week 3, 8th – 14th November; Week 4, 15th – 21st November; and Week 5, 22 – 28th November.
Artworks sold will be replaced at the end of each week with new items… and here are just some of the items being offered.
The Buy Now event will all take place on the Art4All Facebook Group, with all items being sold between £5-£30. You don’t bid when the sale begins! All you have to do is to comment under the item you want and if you’re the first person to comment, you have bought it.
Money raised will be donated to for SAFA, a vital charity providing help and support for people who self harm and those who care for them.
Every penny goes to SAFA. No money, for example, administration, banking etc is taken from the final amount.
“Please help us reach a wider audience by sharing,” Sharon asks, who’s being helped by a small group of volunteers who ensure the smooth running of the project, including Lyndsay Aspin, liaison for SAFA and ArtWorks team.
“A massive thank you to all who have donated so far.”
ArtWorks is a volunteer-led organisation, created to raise money for smaller local charities in Cumbria, who provide support for mental health and well-being, to help raise awareness and the profile of the charities they work with, raise the profile of local artists that join in ArtWorks activities; and to work with other community organisations who want to decorate parts of their buildings with original artwork. These places can only afford the cost of materials. ArtWorks can provide an artist to work collaboratively with them.
So far they have worked with the Dova Unit, Dane Garth, creating numerous murals, Dalton Leisure Centre, Brisbane Park Infants School! George Romney Junior School, and, of course, SAFA. All their projects place arts at its core, aiming to create events that involve people regardless of if they consider themselves to be ‘no good at art, I can’t draw a stickman’ through to ‘I’ve exhibited my work regularly’.
Future projects aim to get communities making their own art to fundraise, to challenge artists to create new works and promote mental health and to create new environments where art can be created.
Over 100 artists that continue to support their aims and new artists join regularly.
