Corgi “TV Classics” range expands to include Captain Scarlet, Thunderbirds and Star Trek

Corgi have added a number of Gerry Anderson and Star Trek models to their “TV Classics” die-cast range, some due for release this year.

The selection of classic and modern TV favourites offers fans of Captain Scarlet, Thunderbirds and Star Trek the opportunity re-create some of the greatest small screen moments with Corgi’s selection of die-cast cars and vehicles.

Corgi says they’re thrilled to return to the Final Frontier with a new range of models based on the Star Trek Universe. The detailed starships include a Starfleet delta display base to enable dramatic display in your die-cast collection.

Here’s the intel from Corgi on the incoming models…

• CC96308 Captain Scarlet (Classic) – Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle (SPV) | Expected Autumn 2023 | Pre-order here from Corgi Toys

Fast, armed, armoured and amphibious, the Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle is Spectrum’s major Earth-bound combat force. A ten-wheeled two-seater bullet-proof vehicle capable of speeds over 200 mph (322 kmph), the 25 ft (7.62 m) long SPV has no windscreen and is driven from an aircraft-type bucket seat with the driver sitting facing the rear, steering the lightweight multi-purpose motors by television monitor.

Entry to the vehicle is via a sliding side panel which incorporates the driver’s seat. Each SPV is equipped with revolutionary radar installations, super sensitive two-way radios, an air-conditioning plant and a proteinised food supply, enabling the crew to remain entirely self-sufficient for long periods.

The SPV’s armament consists of laser cannons, ground-to- air missiles and electrode ray cannons – the only truly effective anti-Mysteron weapon.

The Angel Interceptor is a single seater strike aircraft developed by International Engineering from the World Army Air Force ‘Viper’ Jet, but the final blueprint of the Angel is vastly different from the original Viper, having been specially adapted for Cloudbase requirements. 60 ft (18.29 m) long, precision engineered, the plane is incredibly compact, carrying extra electronic instruments and mammoth fuel tanks which enable the aircraft to complete any mission without refuelling. Three Angel Interceptors are always positioned on the aerial launch platform on Cloudbase ready for immediate take-off. Entry to the cockpit is by hydraulic lift from the Cloudbase Amber Room up through the hull of the craft, such that the pilot is ejected into the cockpit complete with her seat. Instruments and gunsights are arranged within easy view of the pilot, who has all-round visibility. The craft is equipped with a flight computer auto-pilot fitted behind the pilot’s seat.

Gerry Anderson’s famous TV series, Thunderbirds, was first broadcast fifty-five years ago. The original show, which used a combination of marionette puppetry and scale-model special effects sequences – a technique known as ‘Supermarionation’, has been loved by generations. Corgi proudly presents a range of replica die-cast models that celebrate this iconic TV creation!

Thunderbird 2, piloted by Virgil Tracy, is the freighter that carries all of International Rescue’s ingenious heavy engineering equipment. With a maximum flying speed of 2,000 miles per hour, Thunderbird 2 is 250 feet long, has a wing span of 180 feet and stands 60 feet high.

Thunderbird 4, piloted by aquanaut Gordon Tracy, is a 30 feet long underwater and sea surface craft. Although much smaller than the other Thunderbirds vehicles and with a limited range, TB4 nonetheless plays a vital role in any underwater rescue operations.

The legendary fleet flagship of the golden age of interstellar discovery, the Constitution-class U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 was launched in 2245 and served the United Federation of Planets for over forty years, most famously under the command of Captain James T. Kirk.

One of the most celebrated Starships to serve in Starfleet, the Galaxy-class U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D was launched in 2363 under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard as the new flagship of the United Federation of Planets.
