An exciting all-ages 68-page mystery adventure, Tara Togs – The Silence of Unicorns, by Stref, is seeking backing on Kickstarter, a new project from the team behind ComicScene magazine.
“Tara Togs – The Silence of Unicorns was a true labour of love, and took two years to write and three years to complete the art,” explains publisher Tony Foster. “It was a lock down project for writer/artist Stref, between commissions for Viz. Creative Scotland helped cover the cost of colouring and lettering the book.
Set in modern times, Tara dreams of becoming a professional photographer and her knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time lands her smack-bang in the middle of a gang of ruthless criminals and their plot to steal a valuable piece of art.
Armed only with her quick wits and unfailing bravery, she sets out to bring the gang to justice. She manages to make a few friends on her adventure, including Heggy the Private Detective, that can lend a helping hand. Only together do they have a chance of stopping the thieves and solving the mystery of one of the world’s greatest lost treasures…
Stref is the pen name for Stephen White, a comics writer/artist based in Scotland, who has worked for The Beano, The Dandy and Viz and on characters such as Peter Pan, Raising Amy, Oor Wullie and The Broons.
“If you are a fan of TinTin, Asterix, mystery and adventure like Harry Potter and HP Lovecraft, movies like Indiana Jones, National Treasure, Mission: Impossible, Lara Croft, art from Hergé and Moebius, plus love a wee bit of Scotland… then Tara Togs is for you!” Tony enthuses. Especially if you’re looking for a comic book that will appeal to anyone from eight to 80.
“This is your opportunity to get this first print of the fantastic 68-page all ages book featuring this modern age young adventurer from Scotland. Your support means you can get your print or digital copy and Stref gets something for all the hard work he put into creating this book.”
