With the confirmation that actress Jodie Whittaker is to be Doctor Who‘s Thirteenth Doctor, we’re sure some of you will be racing to draw her.
Several artists have shared their take of Jodie online already, including cover artist Hal Laren (the first we saw), Francesco Francavilla, Marvel Comics and Titan Comics artist Christian Ward and others.
An interview on SciFi Bulletin with Jodie indicates the costume in the debut video is not the final look for the Thirteenth Doctor – there’s room for some invention yet!
So – get your thinking caps on and post your Thirteenth Doctor designs on the Facebook “Doctor Who Comics: A Voyage” group (which Downthetubes runs – if you’re not already a member, you’ll have to join first and make it clear in your post your art is an entry for this challenge). The group is packed with Doctor Who comic writers and artists already – you might enjoy your visit!
There is a specific folder for the Doctor Who Thirteenth Doctor Art Challenge on the Doctor Who Comics: A Voyage Facebook group. Upload any entries here (once you have joined the group, if you haven’t already done so).
The best design (in our view, which may or may not be influenced by the number of ‘likes’ it gets) will win some Doctor Who related goodies from the downthetubes Vault, including some Doctor Who Magazine Specials!
Your art can be a character illustration or a page of comic strip art.
Good luck! The competition will close on Thursday 24th August 2017 at 12 noon UK time.
