The Lakes International Comic Art Festival has confirmed its full list of exhibitors who will be joining a huge range of British and international comic creators at weekend-long event in Bowness-on-Windermere (14th – 16th October 2022).

A huge range of comic creators, selected from almost one hundred applications, will take up residence in the Lakeview Comics Marketplace in the centre of Bowness over the weekend, including Festival patron Bryan Talbot, Instagram sensation Clarice Tudor, Gustaffo Vargas, ILYA, Doctor Who comic artist Martin Geraghty, Olivia Sullivan, Rachael Smith, Schnumn and Tom Ward.
Publishers attending include newcomer B7 Comics, launching their SF title Pilgrim and The Lad Himself, a graphic novel telling the story of comedian Tony Hancock, established independents Knockabout Comics, Marksoia, and The 77 Publications, who have recently added a new comic, Pandora, to their popular line up of anthology titles.
The Lakeview Comics Marketplace complements the Festival’s diverse guest list, which includes Alison Bechdel, Matthew Dooley, Dave Gibbons, Jaime Hernandez, Bryan Hitch, Mick McMahon, Bex Ollerton, Sean Phillips, Greg Rucka, Rian Hughes, Posy Simmonds, Fiona Stephenson, with more guests still to be announced.
“We’re delighted to have so many great comic creators and publishers join the Festival in our new home, Bowness-on-Windermere,” says Festival Director Julie Tait. “Interest in the new location has been huge, and we still have our Little LICAF events for children and exhibition plans to announce!”

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
