Originally the brainchild of comic luminary Dez Skinn (perhaps best known as the cretaor of titles such as Doctor Who Weekly and Warrior, to name but two of many), the magazine put print publication on hold in 2009 when publisher Visual Imagination imploded, but the title continued as a successful website with a large and loyal following.
Starburst relaunched on the UK newsstand last month, completing its multi-platform offering for sci-fi, horror and fantasy fans and competing with SFX and other titles for shelf space.
The first issue of the new print edition featured two covers, one by Ian Welch and the other by Glenn Fabry and featured reviews of all the latest sci-fi, horror and fantasy products from across all mediums, including television, film, comics, gaming, books and music, as well as news articles, interviews and columns.
The brand is also supported by a regularly updated online community at starburstmagazine.com and a weekly podcast that will be available to download from iTunes.
• Starburst is on sale in the UK in independent newsagents, priced at £3.95, distributed by Intermedia Brand Marketing.
