If you’re at London Film and Comic Con today (and can actually get in – the queues yesterday were horrendous for those without advance tickets) then you might want to track down ace creator Garen Ewing, author of the marvellous Rainbow Orchid.
Garen is doing a comics workshop as part of this year’s LFCC, as part of the Book Zone and YALC – the Young Adult Literary Convention, curated by Children’s Laureate, Malorie Blackman.
His involvement comes with the support of his publisher and he clearly hopes the event will introduce his work to an audience outside of comic fandom.
“My UK publisher, Egmont, have put me into a lot of book/lit festivals over the past few years and it’s got my book out to a much wider range of readers than some of the old comic shows did.
“Of course, the best thing would be to also get these people to the dedicated comic shows so they can see just how diverse and fantastic British comics are. Hopefully it’ll all overlap soon.”
LFCC also has a dedicated Comics Zone hosting a huge range of creators and publishers, as well as a massive number of film and TV media guests… But be aware of those queues! Check the Showmasters twitter, or find out what visitors are talking about using the hashtag #lfcc or #lfcc2014 for current status.
