A rare, small collection of cartoons by the legendary Daily Express cartoonist Giles is being offered on eBay, the proceeds of the sale going toward the charity, Books2Africa.
At just 24 pages, Cartoons by Giles from The Journalist, published by the National Union of Journalists in 1948 may be a slim tome, but this collection of early work by the cartoonist who captured British society to perfection for decades is much sought after by his fans. It’s no wonder bidding is already over the £200 mark.
This paperback includes 20 full-page cartoons originally published in individual copies of The Journalist between July 1942 and September 1944, the collection introduced by the editor of title at the time, G. Allen Hunt,
All proceeds from the sale will go to support the work of Books2Africa, a UK registered UK charity (no 1152599) sending books and educational materials to communities in Africa. The charity sells 20 per cent of donated items in the UK to fund the shipment of the remaining 80 per cent to readers across Africa.
