Roy of the Rovers the brilliantly gifted striker who, along with his team, Melchester Rovers, is synonymous with football – and publisher Rebellion are currently offering a terrific “bundle” of some of his classic collected stories.
Launched in Tiger in 1954, the creation of writer Frank S. Pepper and artist Joe Colquhoun, who wrote many of the early strips as Stewart Colwyn, Roy of the Rovers is still going strong to this day. Most recently, Roy Race, the son of the famous footballer, returned in the graphic novel, The £100 Million Game, from writer Rob Williams, drawn by ROTR veteran David Sque – the eighth in a series of strip adventures spanning three football seasons, alongside a series of prose novels. Published in 2022, Rebellion described it as “concluding the current Roy of the Rovers graphic novel series.”
This “Classic Roy of the Rovers” value bundle, only available from the 2000AD and Roy of the Rovers webshops, takes you from the beginning of Roy Race’s journey as a young striker in the 1950s to the legendary storylines of the 1980s, including assassination attempts, famous faces, and so much more.
