Garth Ennis is reimagining Dastardly and Muttley of Wacky Races and Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines for DC’s teen-oriented Hanna-Barbera line.

Written by Garth, the six-issue Dastardly & Muttley series, launching 6th September, will be drawn by Mauricet, whose own hilarious take on Cosmic Patrouille, published in French by Bamboo Editions, seriously needs an English language edition, especially given his work on US titles such as Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys.

The first issue sports two covers, one by Mauricet and the other by Wonder Woman artist Liam Sharp.

In the miniseries, It’s a red-letter day for the good folk of Unliklistan as they start to power up their first atomic reactor. But after pushing the wrong button, the ultra-rare radioactive element, unstabilium, has been released into the atmosphere!

Now it’s up to pilot Lt. Col. Richard “Dick” Atcherly and his navigator Captain Dudley “Mutt” Muller to save the day. Will they safely complete their mission? Or are things about to get a little…wacky?

Echoing the Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines created byJerry Eisenberg and Iwao Takamoto, also known to many as “Stop the PigEon” for both its theme tune and its working title, the duo will star as a pair of fighter pilots, with Muttley enhanced by some kind of cybernetics.

In the original show, Dastardly & Muttley were part of the Vulture Squadron – we’ll have to wait and see if Klunk and Zilly are part of the story.
