After a hugely successful launch in April, the second issue of Quantum, the new British bi-monthly anthology comic published by Time Bomb Comics will arrive in newsagents next week, on Thursday 22nd June, with cover art by David Morris and Ben Lopez.
The content for Quantum No.2 continues the serials that began in the debut issue: “Major Rakhana: Pax Galactica” Part Two, written by Steve Tanner, artist Roland Bird, colourist Dan Harris, letterer Rob Jones; “WesterNoir: Moon Cursed” Part Two, written and lettered by Dave West, artist Joseph Parangue, colourist Matt Soffe; “Memphis” Part Two, written, drawn and lettered by David Morris, with assists from Pat O’Connor & Andrew Richmond; and “Whatever Happened to the World’s Fastest Man?” Part Two, written by Dave West, artist, the late, missed Marleen Starksfield Lowe, letterer Andy Bloor.
A new story also makes its debut: “Death & Taxes” by writer Katie Cunningham, artwork by Tom Newell & John Charles, with letters by Rob Jones. Set in an alternate 1950s Britain where only those rich enough to pay the death tax are allowed to die, “Death & Taxes” blends hardboiled crime and gothic horror.
Continuing the title’s main goals, to support local Newsagents, as part of this the original black and white cover will be available to be won by any fans who take a selfie of themselves and name their newsagent.
Speaking about the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Quantum #1, Time Bomb Comics Publisher Steve Tanner said: “I’m delighted with reader response to the first issue of Quantum. I know Time Bomb Comics has established itself to ‘those in the know’ within the British indie comic community but outside of that we’re pretty much unknown. To know we’ve reached those that buy their comics from their local newsagents, those beyond our previous reach, and to see them responding so positively to Quantum – that’s been wonderful.”
“All of the creators involved with Quantum No.1 are thrilled with the feedback received about the stories they created. I personally think our second issue is an improvement on the first, but I’m looking forward to finding out if Quantum readers feel the same.”
Issue 1 of Quantum will also be available online from Thursday 22nd June, allowing anyone who missed it in shops to catch up.
