DreamWorks’ Penguins of Madagascar are getting their own brand new four-issue comic series! Yep, Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private are jumping from the big and small screen to the CMYK panels!
Featuring two stories – one written by Alex Matthews and the other by Jai Nitz, with eye-popping art from Lucas Fereyra and Lawrence Etherington, feathers are set to fly in this unique and exciting – and very funny – new series.
Alex Matthews is a freelance cartoonist whose work has been published in The Phoenix (“Useleus”, “Pow! Goes Westworld”), The Beano (“Ball Boy”, Private Eye, The Spectator, among others. He’s also lectured in Graphic Design and illustration at Degree level and up until recently I ran an Art and Design Foundation Course and posts creating comic tips on his blog as well as news about his upcoming or released projects. Jai Nitz is an American comic book writer whose credits include Dream Thief for Dark Horse as well as stories for Marvel, DC, Image, and other publishers. He won the prestigious Xeric Foundation grant in 2003 for his self-published anthology, Paper Museum, and won the Bram Stoker Award in 2004 for excellence in illustrated narrative for Heaven’s Devils from Image Comics. He also works as a professor at his alma mater, the University of Kansas, teaching courses on comic books and film. You can find him on Twitter @jainitz1

Lawrence (aka Lorenzo) Etherington, along with brother Robin, are the creators of Monkey Nuts, YORE!, Baggage, Malcolm Magic, Tusk and MOON. They have also worked on The Phoenix, Transformers, Star Wars, Terminator Salvation, Wallace & Gromit, Dreamworks’ Monsters vs Aliens and previous Madagascar comics. Based in Bristol, the brothers visit also schools all over the UK, delivering workshops which encourage creative free-thinking in young children through the medium of comic art and story telling. The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
