The first part of Aces Weekly Volume 45 is available now, with top talent from around the globe in a sparkling collection of up to 150 cyberspace pages, including Extras, delivered directly to you, wherever you are.
This volume’s line-up, published by David Lloyd, includes the return of Lee Robson and Bryan Coyle‘s terrific superspy, “Velicity Jones”, in their next, fabulous, 21-page adventure of espionage and high drama, lettered by Dave “Bolt-01” Evans.
“The Edge Of The World” is an edge of your seat thriller with some great art, that picks up shortly after the previous story (“The Silent Forest”, from Aces Weekly 41). When a prehistoric virus hidden for decades by the US Government is rediscovered in the Arctic by the international terrorist Solange Moitessier, Velicity Jones finds herself in a deadly race against time to destroy the virus before it gets to civilisation.
But when Gideon Drake – the rogue British agent who betrayed Velicity – enters the fray, the world’s greatest secret agent finds herself torn between duty and revenge…
“I should point out that this was written and conceived last year,” Lee tells downthetubes, “long before the pandemic was even on the radar, and we started work on it before the lockdown.
“Like it’s predecessors (‘The Devil’s Breath’, available in Aces Weekly issue 29, ‘The Godcutter Affair’, available in issue 37 and ‘The Silent Forest’), ‘The Edge Of The World’ is a standalone, self-contained story,” he expands, “but there are a few plot threads from the previous stories that come into play here, so it might be worth reading the previous stories to see how we’re tying everything together.
“I don’t really want to say much more about it, because I don’t want to spoil some of the surprises we’ve got in store. I will say, though, there’s some stuff in their we’re really proud of, and – at the risk of sounding hyperbolic – it might just be the best one we’ve done so far.”
