The Big Glasgow Comic Page – described as “a hub of comic awesomeness run by comic fans for comic fans” – is holding its “Ultimate Comic Mart” at the Buff Club tomorrow, 1st March, and Sunday.
The Big Glasgow Comic Page aims to bring comic fans all of the latest comic news and reviews as well as a number of regular events. As well as the Mart, they run comic pub quizzes, comic marts, a monthly book group in the Pot Still and are now launching a regular free movie night! There’s more information on all of these on their Facebook page, which is worth checking out for regular posts, including features on comic creators such as this recent item on Kelly Sue DeConnick – the writer, editor, mother, manga-adaptor, and feminist who is currently making huge leaps for women in the industry.
Comic publisher Planet Jimbot, run by Jim Alexander and publishers of the excellent Wolf Country, are among the exhibitors will be in attendance.
“I realise there are a lot of comics out there to choose from,” he tells us, “but please if you can give one of our titles a try. If you don’t like it, then no hard feelings and I’ve heard the paper is good for bedding if you have a pet rabbit. If you like it and maybe want to buy another, then terrific and do you mind if we clone you?”
We say, go an check out their table. As far as we are aware, Jim has never bitten a reader. On sale over the weekend – Gabriel, Amongst the Stars, the brilliant Savant #1, Food Chain, Amazing & Fantastic Tales, GoodCopBadCop and Wolf Country. And, if you’re taking your children with you, there’s a free Cartoon Network comic with every Planet Jimbot purchase.
