The latest Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast co-hosted by Ian Loxam and Nikki Bates features an exclusive interview with crowdfunding publisher Unbound‘s comics and graphic novels Commissioning Editor, Lizzie Kaye.
Unbound launched one of their latest graphic novels, Reel Love by Owen Michael Johnson, at this year’s Festival and there are plans for further partnership between them and LICAF in 2019.
In Episode 41 of the podcast, guest interviewer John Freeman chats to Lizzie about her career so far, the Unbound platform and how it works, her plans for their graphic novel line and the challenges anyone thinking about crowdfunding a comics project faces.
Along with news items courtesy of the podcast’s new partnership with downtheubes.net, Ian and Nikki preview the Unbound project Barking by Lucy Sullivan, a graphic novel about grief, madness, and the ghosts that haunt us, Death or Glory by Rick Remender and Bengal, and One in Four Naming the Beast by Francesco Mafrici. They also offer their thoughts on the new She Ra Netflix TV series and Mary and the Witches Flower.
Plus, Pete Taylor looks at the life of the marvellous Stan Lee and Mike Williams discusses some of his purchases from the year’s Festival.
