Dan Butcher, creator of the acclaimed independent British superhero comic Vanguard, co-host of the Awesome Comics Podcast, headlines the latest Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast.
Interviewed this episode by Pete Taylor, Dan talks about his comic processes, revealing how he creates his epic tale, published online and in print.
(Incidentally, Pete was a guest on the Awesome Comics Podcast recently. Listen to this episode and find out what challenge LICAF Podcast hosts Ian Loxam and Nikki Bates set for Pete while being interviewed – and if he completed it! The episode includes discussion of about ComiXology’s price rises, independent comics stock in shops, and US Bronze Age comics).
Tom Stewart continues the Dan Butcher theme and reviews Vanguard Book 3, the third collection of his web comics.
Mike Williams talks about some big and small screen comic book adaptations we can look forward too, such as The Last Days of American Crime, based on Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini‘s 2009 graphic novel of the same name, and Snowpiecer, heading to Netflix in May.
As well as co-ordinating this melange of comics investigation and comment, Nikki and Ian also review Reaffirmation: Coming to Terms with an Autism Diagnosis by Rees Finlay, now available on the independent British digital comics distribution platform Comichaus (along with Vanguard and much more – grab the app here).
