Moomin Characters has teamed up with Finnish game studio RealityXpander to launch the app in various locations throughout the year.
The beloved Finnish fantasy characters the Moomins – stars of both books and comics, who will have a big presence at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival in October – are heading to phones with a new augmented reality app, Moomin Move, which is now available on iOS and Android.
While similar in concept to Pokemon Go, Moomin Move is not a global AR game. Instead, it focuses on designated locations and is being launched as part of Moomin Adventures Easter Festival at London’s Kew Gardens. The app will only be available for use at this London location, with other official Moomin locations rolling out later in the year.
During the three-week Moomin-themed Easter festival at Kew Gardens, visitors will be able to enhance their experience of the Gardens with the game. In this first episode of this interactive location-based game, players of all ages will be able to virtually collect and learn more about actual beautiful plants they spot on a designated trail, as well as enjoying other exclusive features including location-based Moomin story events.
• Moomin Move is now available for iOS and Android devices. Additional episodes of the game will launch later this year along with other official Moomin locations
• The Moomin Adventures Easter Festival at Kew Gardens in London runs until 17th April 2017
