US politicians up to unsavoury antics? Are these rumours the work of British ex-secret agents – or comic book writers?

For those of you possibly reeling at the sometimes bizarre twists and turns of the current US political scene, perhaps wondering what is real and what is true, we can’t not mention the upcoming release from Dynamite Entertainment of the collected Control – a comic about US politicians being blackmailed over secretly-filmed sex parties.

Out in March, is this much-praised thriller the true source of the latest round of fake news and other craziness – the devilish work of Andy Diggle, Angela Cruickshank, drawn by Andrea Mutti, with a cover by the awesome Ben Oliver?

In Control, described in one review as “a solid crime mystery with a heart of darkness”, Detective-Sergeant Kate Burnham isn’t making any friends in the Washington, DC Police Department. That makes her the perfect scapegoat when a routine homicide investigation threatens to blow open a criminal conspiracy reaching to the upper echelons of the DC power elite. Either Kate makes it go away, or they make her go away.

Cop or criminal, power is all about control, applied top-down from the penthouse elite to the hustlers on the street. But what happens when the street pushes back…?
